The Fernie Railyard Dog Park is run by the Fernie Pet Society, a not for profit charity organization based in Fernie BC. All board members and volunteers spend their time managing, fundraising and maintaining the park every day.
The Fernie Pet Society also manages the SNIP program (spay and neuter incentive program)
You can contact the Fernie Pet Society via email at admin@ferniepets.ca
The Spay Neuter Incentive Program is for cats only. The program is available throughout the Elk Valley, from Elko to Elkford.
The program will subsidize the costs of spay/neutering pet cats for low-income families (under $49,000 annually). The program will also cover the full costs of feral cats.
A voucher will be given to the approved owner for $70 which will cover the full costs of spay or neutering their pet cat. The owner can only go to Steeples Vet Clinic in Cranbrook to use this voucher. The Vet office bills the Fernie Pet Society for all costs, including surgery so there is no surprise costs to the owner. Please complete the SNIP form on this website to apply for your pet cat or feral cat in your community.
You can also contact the SNIP Administrator directly at spayneuterferniepets@gmail.com
At this time, the Fernie Pet Society does not oversee spay or neutering of dogs. Please contact the BC SPCA for further information at Community Spay & Neuter Program - BC SPCA
Please notify the City of Fernie Bylaw department of anyone with an aggressive dog or altercations. Bylaw services can be contacted at 250-423-2244 or bylawservices@fernie.ca
The Fernie Pet Society has no means to refuse entrance to any dogs and does not act as enforcement of bylaw regulations for dogs.
